If so, select the one by the "Forums", copy it, then paste it into your post. It should look something like this after you copy & paste:

Now change the IMG in the front brackets to img, and the /IMG to /img in the end brackets. Then post it like normal.
Okay guys...here are a couple of pictures of the Iron as she sits....that rear fender looks a little high to me. I know it can only be so low without it being on a rigid frame, but I think I am going to get a fender blank or another used fender to chop again and whei I do I will more than likely leave a bit more to the sides of the fender so it comes down more over the tire....also, I think even thought eh sparto light is nostalgic, it makes the rear end look too high...any comments?

Gino the bike looks great! You have certainly come along with it.
Personally I think the fender chop is perfect.
The tail light does stick up in the air and the plate covers the rear of the fender. So I would relocate that to the left side strut area as you had said earlier.
I can redrill those struts (or make new ones) to shorten them if you want to lower the bike.
In my opinion, I think the machine should not be lowered, unless you could lower the front end equally to keep the machine level.
When you get the T/L & plate off the fender it will look good to you I am sure.
Yes, as I recall poco also taught me how post photos because I never could figure it out. I saved the instructions (somewhere) and was tempted to look for the paperwork the other day when I read your post inquiring how to show photos. But then I thought poco may take of it faster than I could find the instructions....and he did.
You have a nice looking project there, and I like those bars a lot............pg
Thanks again....
The clip ons clamped to the fork tubes, just at the top of the lower fork tree. I would use the regular handlebars for turns and short runs and then on Daytona's straightaways I would bend over the tank and grab the clip ons. These had no throttle or brake levers on them because when you had to stop you came up off the tank and grabbed the regular bars, and that was where the throttle and brake levers were of course.
One problem I forsee with the clip ons is that you are going to have to use the brake levers and throttle on them for street use. This starts to make a short clip on bar even shorter. It can be done, you just have to work out how you want to do it. Therein lies the fun and the challenge. If you could just go to a shop and buy this stuff, I bet you would not do so. No challenge or fun in that.
Which brings me to another point off the subject at hand. I have spent some time here on the ironhead forum. Since I own a Dyna I have spent some time on the Dyna site, although not as much.
What came to mind recently was this:
What kind of subjects do I find being discussed on each site?
On the ironhead site it is.......Why won't my bike run? How can I do this? What will work with this or that model of Sportster? How do I modify this or that? Where can I find this part?
On the Dyna site it goes something like this.......I had the dealer put the stage II air cleaner on my 2006 FXLER. I took my 2005 in yesterday to get the new pipes and 106 cubic inch kit installed. I had the dealer put (another) half ton of chrome on the 2007 I just bought. Kinda makes you wish you were a dealer doesn't it?
Now I want all to understand I am not knocking the guys over there, nor some of the obviously new riders, but here on the ironhead side I gotta tell all of you.....you guys ROCK!!! Jeezze, I think we are the last of the motorcycle mechanics left in the entire world. If you doubt what I say, just spend some time over there and see what the discussions are about.......pg

I agree the rear fender is to high. Lower it like a ridgid frame but not to low as to throw off the bikes parallel angle to the ground too much. Why not just go all out for a bolt on hardtail. I'm looking at one right now from V-Twin for just under $200, fits '52-'78.
The pict is of another members' bike (can't remember who's right now) that I put on my desktop. It shows what the bolt-on will look like, as well as the flat black look that I love.
I agree with you about the rear struts, they need to go. I've never liked any rear strut that dosn't follow the same curve as the fender so they have to go.
I like the idea of the shock-replacement struts in leu of a hardtail very much and would do it to my bike but consider steepining the angle by connecting it to the rear axe somehow. This could also get the fender a few inches lower.
Looks great so far,
Rich
PS. where's the battery and what does the cover look like?
