pyro....thanks for the input. I think I will keep the rigid struts as opposed to the bolt on hardtail....keeping this in mind, I think I can achieve a lower look to that rear fender if I start with a fender blank and chop it and drill the mounting holes so it sits ower on the tire profile.....but I can't get a straight answer from anyone regarding what size blank I need to go with.
Anyhow, the battery was just not in the pictures, but I do have one....as for the cover.....there is none! Just the bracket that holds her in there. Raw looks so much better on these Irons don't you think?

Absolutely. I had to fab a new holder for my new battery since it was smaller that the original and then made a wrap to cover all the labels. The top is exposed which adds character and attitude.

Steak-man, er, Butcher! Here's a couple thoughts on the rear fender, etc. Since you're going for that minimalist look, why not ditch the stock-type fender altogether? A Triumph-type ribbed fender, cut to the length you want, would really look good. And if you put a couple tabs on the swingarm to mount rigid frame-type fender struts, and a bracket on the front of the swingarm, the fender could be mounted directly to these, and as low to the tire as possible. This would also do away with the clunky fender struts. The fender would move with the swingarm/tire. Not sure if I'm making myself clear, so if not, let me know.

Your oil tank is for an XLH electric foot bike. I see the kicker pedal, but can't tell if the e-foot is still there. Either way, a cleaner and more compact oil tank and batter box can be made that will tuck everything in tight. Something like one of the aftermarket round, oval, or hex shaped tanks made for Softails could be adapted. One without a battery box would be best. Then the battery could be mounted below it so it would be more accessible. And a smaller battery would be possible, instead of the big ol' honkin' XLH type Sporty job.

Pococj....I think I gather what you are talking about regarding the rear fender.....what type of exact fender would I use.....the Triumph one? Maybe you could do up a sketch just so I know we are on the same page. Thanks again for the input....I dig it.

That is exactly what I pictured....the hardest part really being creating a bracket for the swingarm. If I had the damn bike in my shop, I could be looking directly at it, but the local shop had to do some welding to it in exchange for paint and leather work I did for them and they are dragging their feet getting her back to me. Anyhow, I think this is the right idea....by the way, obviously I need to keep the fender rigid struts....do you think this will look odd or pieced together in any way? The ultimate would be to go to the bolt on rigid, but then there is the issue of lowering the front end that extra 4 inches that the rigid rear end will lower the bike. Frankly I gave consideration to going this route, but I have yet to find a way to lower the stock front end by that 4 inches. All in all, if you think the look may be okay keeping those rear rigid struts, I will probably go that route becase I do like the stocky, shorter wheel base of her as she sits. Thanks again.

Why do you have to keep the struts? Best looking swingarm Shovel I've ever seen had a fender & struts like that, but still used shocks.

If you're going to use the struts, here's another lousy drawing of a set I used to run on my '72 CH.

You can get 2" under tubes for your front end from just about any shop. And Forking by Frank can make up just about anything you want. http://www.frankmain.qpg.com/
I don't think you'd want to go much more than 2" under because of ground clearance problems.

Here I am again....just so I get you right, your saying that I can keep the rigid shocks that are on the bike now as well as the ribbed fender with the small support brackets from the rear of the fender down to the rear axle?
Thanks for your patience on this....I just want to make sure we are on the same page.

You can keep the rigid shocks (struts) that are on there now, or you can even put some regular shocks on it, with the ribbed fender mounted as shown in the scribbles.

I think I will keep the rigid shocks as well as the ribbed fender with their supports if you think it won't look too "cluttered". As I said, I would rather have the bolt on rigid rear end, but hey, this may not look too bnad, huh?
Thanks again, my friend
