Up for sale is an Original 1939 Harley Davidson complete Knucklehead EL Engine. Looks to be all original. The motor has been stored, greased up, in a dry basement since the early 60's. Matching belly numbers. Looks
to have no broken fins on the cylinders or heads.
couple things jump out for me - the brass barbed fitting in the vent location - I do not remember ever seeing that type fitting in the 1960, later on yes it was designed for the bunda rubber hoses as we got closer to unleaded fuels in 1975
champion sparkplugs copper core is also later then the 60s
had you said late 70s or even early 80s I could be on board with your dating
39 is an odd year as the trans has neutral in the center of the shift gate - harder to find that then the EL engine you have
