I can go either way on this. Anytime you plan a 1K trip, you shouldn't be in a hurry. so stopping every 120 miles or so isn't a bad thing.
However...part of touring is protection from elements and wind, this bike offers neither.
And in the US...it's a lot easier to find a gas station than a fast charge location, albeit every 200 plus miles, depending on you gas powered scoot.

I get the point of your post Goob, just talking...since we all got nothing better to do and this is WAY more interesting than oil, sumping, transfer, financial experts, etc.

That's cool that he did it. And using multiple quick charges in a row (which is not recommended by Harley so it would be interesting to see what that does to the long term life of the battery). But that wasn't really a long distance drive, it was back and forth across the same 94 mile course. It's good he did it on real public roads, not a closed course. But it's still not a realistic use of the bike.

Just did the math, 1070 miles in 24 hrs is averaging 44.58 Miles Per Hour. That's almost averaging highway speeds, and when you consider the amount of time needed for charging, he was running at probably 65 MPH or more on those 94 mile legs. So he was running hard and rapid charging. Now I really would like to see what that did to the battery life.

Looking at it some more, he had to make about 9 stops to recharge, if he did the short 40 minute charges to 80% that means 360 minutes or 6 hours of down time for charging. That leaves 18 hrs for riding 1070 miles. Or in other words he averaged 59.44 MPH while he was moving.

That means he did those 94 mile legs at 60 MPH on an 80% charge. That is way further than Harley's advertised range for the Livewire. That puts the Livewire as about the highway equivalent of a Sportster with a 2.5 gal peanut tank with some longer fuel stops.

Edited to add:

Looking at the maps, and charging station locations I don't think he was doing 94 mile legs that I quoted above. The numbers just don't add up. What I think he did was about 120 KM or 75 mile legs from charging stations on the outskirts of Stutgart and Singen But he still was doing 75 mile legs at autobahn speeds.

For all practical purposes the guy did an Iron Butt on a Livewire.

It also did what no other electric motorcycle has been able to do so far. It is an impressive feat. Not a reason for me to spend $30K on one, but still impressive.

Depends on where you go.

There's actually an app where you select what you're driving, how fast and at what ambient temperature, and what it does is picks the route, and tells you which exits to get off at and where to charge for how long. Not everywhere can be reached but I can go between the Deep South and up to Canada via the I-75 to I-81 and it's doable, albeit 50% more time because of charging.
