To each their own, some of us buy bikes to enjoy them, not nurse them around at low rpms to save a gallon of gas and brag about fuel mileage. 55 mph in 6th gear is no fun, nor is keeping the rpms below 3000 for the first 3000 miles. Filled up today, 221 miles and took 5.5 gallons, and enjoyed every mile. Ride safe.

I have a multi tool designed for a Harley. Comes in super handy.. also if I am not riding alone ( I do a lot of solo riding) I bring my master mechanic with me and his set of tools lol ( hubby is life long master mechanic) and we have MC towing on our insurance :-) but the multi tool is the best $20 I ever spent for my bike. That and a cargo net what I recommend for new bike owners http://www.jpcycles.com/product/910-050

I already have 5K on mine and took it on two multi day and multi state trips. I ride distance and don't fuss around locally. By the way on state highway 75 in western Iowa at 65 mph it got 56 mpg.

Some folks seem to have missed H-D's releases that the combined M8 mpg is 45 which is 3 more than the TC's 42 combined.

H-D Started just posting combined in 08. O7 the had the highway at 54, combined at 42 and I don't remember city However the combined 42 held through to the 103's. So the highway had to be the same.

Therefore the M8 highway is greater than 54.

Also missed was that improving fuel economy was one of the seven goals for the new engine. That is why it has the mildest stock cam of any past engine.

I would suggest to one poster that when a thread starts with "What are you seeing for mileage." Responding to that post does not equate to "bragging"

It is what it is a simple reply.
