Default Great information posted on this subject.

[Great information posted on this subject. Nothing to add until I see what the dealer will do to take care of similar problems with my '17' FLTRX RG purchased 10/16. 4500mi, Nice to see I'm not alone with these issues, Thanks for the information, Earl

QUOTE=sprintrps;15790344]2017 FLHR...Took a test Ride...Traded my 2015 FLHR as this new one is a vast improvement in torque, suspension, etc. At approx 40 mph in 3rd or 4th gear there is a cyclical whining noise (seems to be from the rear) that I can't identify. Heading to Dealer for 1K service, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this odd sound.[/QUOTE]

My '03 RK would whine from the rear if the belt was too tight. Have you checked that?

I had the same whirring sound on my 17 limited when I purchased it back in September last year. It was very noticeable going through 3-4th gear and between 20-49mph. (kind of like a whirr-whirr-whirr sound) Dealer was clueless. I had them loosen my belt a smidge since it was like a banjo string from the factory, but that did not help. It became slightly less noticeable as I got to 5000 miles and now only going through 20-25mph since I put in redline shockproof. It does sound like it comes from the rear sprocket area, but I think its definitely trans related.
