You definitely ruined your warranty when you took a hammer to the head pipe.Since you had purchased these through your HD dealer, they were responsible to sell you a set of pipes that fit and they should deal with the manufacturer of the pipes.Maybe you could let the dealers service dept. try and install them.

My experience with Samson true duals and 4" mufflers on my old 01 flht was bad. I bought directly from samson. The first system I ordered from them over the phone never left their facility. When I finally got someone helpful on the phone they told me the salesman sold me a setup they no longer make. She talked me into another system and gave me a small discount.
The system arrived quickly. Headers installed fine. Mufflers would not fit. There was so much weld spatter inside that it was preventing the muffler from sliding forward. I had to take a dremmel and grind down the spatter for the pipe to fit.
Also they assured me that the pipes were not very loud. I asked about quieter baffles and they said just to wrap the baffles I had. It was so loud my wife and I had to wear ear plugs on trips.
I'll never buy Samson again. I'll stick with the HD stuff from now on.
