I emailed FM yesterday and asked if the slip-on's would fit the header and they said yes so I wanted to make sure I was buying something that actually improved the sound, not just a little, but a lot.
Decatted stock head pipe is very minimal in volume but the tone changed quite a bit, not for the better in my opinion. The pipe heat went down big time. I called fuel moto and asked if anything would be different with their pipe, they said don't expect more than a couple decibels louder over the stock with cat but of course pipe heat would drop tremendously. It's the same bend as the stock pipe so I asked if I would see any difference in the decatted stock pipe, they said probably nothing noticeable.
I just added the FM header and the there as just a slight change in decibels as Quik stated. I also have 4" Rineharts and the TC cam. Strangely I never noticed a heat issue from the cat, mine comes from the rear cylinder. It isn't too bad when I wear jeans, but the 1 time I took it for a test ride and had shorts on it cooked my right calf pretty good. It's like the heat shields are crap or something. I never experienced that on any other of my previous Harleys.
I have there header with the jackpot highrollers, has a really deep sound when you are going down the road.a little louder than stock when it is idling, but sound really good when you twist the throttle.can imagine it would sound even better with a cam.
I currently have a screaming eagle stage 1. I ordered the jackpot headpipe today along with a power vision from Fuel Moto. I'm hoping this will make my Ultra sound more like a Harley than a
Jetsons car!
I used a Bassani 2-1-2 header with Rineharts......dropped the 448 cam in too, and it sure sounds like a Harley now. I think a good catless header makes a big difference in sound.
