I am a bit disappointed in the 2018 SGS. I love the blacked out look - was thinking long and hard about buying a 17 RKS because of that and now the '18 SGS has it. Almost a no-brainer for me.
BUT - they put a 114" in the new softail Fat Bob and Breakout, but don't offer the motor in the SGS. That's annoying. I don't want all the bells and whistles of the 117" CVO, but I would like the 114" as a factory option.
And, I wonder what the intent is with the new frame? Is that likely to migrate to the Touring bikes next year? It would make sense as it would give more bag space at the rear due to the central mono shock. Don't really want to buy a Touring this year to find that it gets the new frame and the 114" option next year.
I am VERY tempted by the 114" Fat Bob. It's a totally different bike, but I already have a '14 103" Fat Bob and trading that for new one would be excellent.
I'm happy as a pig in mud with my new 17 FLTRU, the thing just rocks. Every new model year brings changes, I bought the bike I wanted, when I wanted it.
Did you notice his sig pick? Pretty sure he's talking about the touring line.
My thoughts - the new Softail? LOVE it! Long overdue for a redesign. Not crazy about the look of the new Heritage; looks a little to "Mad Max" for my personal taste. That Fat Bob has got me drooling though...
"New" touring line? I'm glad they came out with a CVO Road Glide... that will make me look long and hard at my finances. Other than the CVO, meh. Not crazy about any of the "new" colors, and I'm a chrome guy, so nothing else really has my attention.
My bad I thought they changed the touring chassis also
I like the new CVO Limited's the way they faded the paint but I prefer the chrome over the black so perfectly happy with the 2017. Not sure realistically how much difference the 117 will make over the 114 which is plenty powerful for my wife and I as we zip around the Rockies!!
See and I'm the opposite. I have chrome now and would like to go to a blacked out. Cost reasons I know, but it would be nice if you could go on the HD website and do a build your own and have the bike shipped to the dealer. I'd wait for it. I mean, they have the blacked out SGS and they have the Limited, why can't they build me a blacked out Limited with a '114 or '117 motor? They can assemble that right, or is there to many difference between a SGS and a Limited that the parts area not interchangeable? It would be far more cost effective to have it build the way I wanted it, then to have to buy the bike and then buy all the part and build it...

Im with you, I have the Charcoal Denim and want to black it out but I have to pay for the inconvenience of getting bars and hand controls done. I want to get everything with the engine matte black so either way Im not getting what I want as far as look. I mean is it just me or does anyone else think the gloss black clashes with the matte of the engine?
They're not for me but I hope many others like them and will buy them. That means the moco will stay in business and continue to be here for me and my kids (and future grandchildren). I don't like what I see, so I'm choosing not to buy. As for accessories if I don't like the price I'll look at aftermarket, skip it or plunk down the cash at a discount dealer.
In 2017 Harley made something I liked so I bought it. Took 16 years for me to do that. Might be another 16 years, it's impossible to say. But while I love my Street Glide some probably look at it and say 'NOPE' and that's what makes things cool. We are individuals and allowed to be as such
