I didn't receive a 'birth certificate'. But a few weeks after I bought my scooter I received a large envelope in the mail. It was a picture of my, or one just like it, scooter that appeared to have been taken on the highway between Vegas and Kingman, where I bought it.
On the picture was "Custom made for" my name, and the VIN number.
This is what comes with the bike, I dont remember where it was attached. I have bought several new bikes off the floor but only ordered one once, I was there when they took it off the truck, that was the only time I got this build sheet. Dealers have no obligation to give it you. Not really much to see though.
There are 2 things going on here: 1) yes, I'm grumpy and 2) its silly. Birth certificate? Please. Same category as naming your bike. Grow some facial hair and get a pair.

First I don't think it's silly, 2. I have plenty of facial hair and last time I checked there were two still hanging down there, and no I never have named my bikes. What's wrong with having piece of paper that shows the build and date, man I think your just being old.
I got a really nice Glass plaque in the mail last week, something about being built just for me, had a picture of the bike, VIN# and sale date, signed by the shop owners and sales man, it's kinda cool
