Replaced the Harley high flow with this piece of art. I'm very happy with it, sounds like a vacuum cleaner sucking so I will have to get used to that but the looks make up for it in my book.
Does it come with an environment sock or is that extra expense
Did not come with one, called their store and they said it does not need one.
hhmmm.I would not want to be caught in a deluge with any exposed AF...could spell trouble..but that AC is so damn purdy I'd be taking the sock of asap when not needed for sure

I got more clarification this evening, they said it was not absolutely necessary but was a good idea, this one does not have the synthetic filter like the inverted series, that one they say does not need a sock or oil, just wash, dry and reuse.

I ran an open element filter through several rain squalls, over many years, no rain sock. I did wrap it with a plastic bag while washing though. You'll get used to the extra sound from the open filter element, I like that extra growl. Your selection looks great with the M8 motor and I've made the switch to open element on my new Road King as well. Paid for that chrome and black motor, want to see my chrome and black motor! Too much hidden with the stock cover in my opinion.

My decision was based on aesthetics only, don't really care about more air, I'm sure the HD high flow did all I need, not trying to make a powerhouse but I'm just like you, I think the motor looks great so I want to see every bit of it I can. I agree, the stock cover hid too much, even after taking off all the black Tupperware. I'm sure I will get used to the noise over time or I could always put a plug in my right ear.
