Default 2017 m8 intake manifold

friend of mine took his 2017 m8 in because of idling issue. service tech told him his manifold was warped, also the manifold was made from plastic.

Yes it has been covered. Horse Power Inc sells an aluminum replacement. If the bike is getting hot enough to warp the manifold there may be another problem. Did he get caught in a parade situation, traffic jam?

Yes, plastics have been developed and used for engine parts for years now. Not sure how well it will will hold up in the Harley environment. Time will tell.

While mine has not warped, melted or cracked the intake manifold. I'm glad I bought a Stage IV upgrade 107 take off top end. Have to prepare for all M8 failures.

Mine was replaced in March.I was told it melted. However, after learning that it was plastic I have been asking questions.Mine may have frozen over winter and caused the damage to the plastic intake.I was told that the HD high flow A/C can cause moisture to form in the intake. My bike ran fine and sat on a trailer over winter.Taking off the trailer,it ran fine at fast idle and died when it came off fast idle.
The point I am trying to make is that it did not melt until after winter and not until I tried to operate in the spring.I do not know what freezing does to the plastic. Warps, cracks or what. However, I am concerned with next winter and warranty expiring.

That would require a lot of moisture in the flange/makeup area compounded with freezing to make the manifold crack. They have been using these plastic manifolds for years in cars, motorcycles and lawn mowers. They do fail here and there. But so do aluminum ones. It's a head scratcher.

Seems like time has already "told". One more cheap-out idea from the MoCo that doesn't work? No surprises here.

Same BS, different day.
