Default Engine Light

Guy's.........
After a unforeseen workload this past year, I have a 2017 M8 RGS with only 3k on it after yesterday. Stage 2 w/ 2-1 Side dump. After a 300 mile run with my son yesterday, the engine light came on with 30 miles to go to the house. The bike ran great for the 300 with no issues, checked oil when i got home and it all checked out.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks in advance......

The dealer will see what codes your bike is throwing to cause your check engine light to come on.

You can also check the codes yourself.

With the ignition off, hold down the odometer switch. While you're holding it down, turn the ignition switch on. The mileage display will say "DIAG"

Use the odometer switch to cycle through the different types of events. ECM, BCM, ABS, etc. If you have a code in a category, it will say "ECM Y" or "ABS Y"

It will likely say "ECM Y". When that is displayed, hold the odometer switch down for a second or two and that will allow to you see and cycle through any codes you have.

Doubtful. If the sensor is telling you something, it doesnt mean its bad, it means its sensing something.

Now, if its running rich, and the sensor doesnt tell you, then the sensor is bad, but then, how would you know?

I would call the dealer, ask them what they think is going on.

Aftermarket exhaust system maybe fooling with the O2 sensor. Clear the code by holding the switch and see if it returns. See the dealer for more info and suggestions.

I bet it has something to do with the exhaust.

It will throw that code if it detects a rich mixture even for a moment. If you clear it and it comes back quickly, you need to get the fault diagnosed and fixed. It could be a bad O2 sensor, bad injector or your fuel management device. Just a heads-up, many dealerships do not like owner mucking with the codes when bikes are under warranty.

Default Engine light keeps coming back on

Hi everyone, I ride a 2018 Sportglide. I had the dealer to do stage 1 and 2 last September(every parts used are Screamin eagle). The bike ran fine for 1000km the engine light came on. I check the code and it was the P00151 or rear O2 sensor running lean. I had the dealer to check the bike and they did the sensor was fine and they updated the map with the street tuner. The light came back on couple of rides later. I brothe bike to the deal again and this time, they could not find anything wrong but they took no chance and replaced the O2 sensor. 200km later, the light came back on. Still the same code. Any suggestions?
