Yeah so it was motor venting.. IIRC there is more than one place where it was reported wrong, Thunder press? So it was likely the source. I commented on one of the rags and they came back saying it was what they were told.
True. I remember seeing your comment! I was like, I kinda know that guy.
Well Maybe I am wrong but I thought it was they claimed the oil from the head returned to the tranny.. Either way it was because an HD engineer (probably manufacturing) made the statement and magazine writers followed without questioning.
It is ALWAYS a big mistake to believe anything said by anybody at the MoCo, regardless of the subject, but especially if it's said by one of their half-a$$ed "engineers".
It's all good... Local dealer here sent me an email to keep in touch and let me know about the '19 model demo days coming up. I asked her about the trans fluid migration and sumping. She replied and said the service manager said that the MoCo came out with a new oil pump and sumping is no longer an issue. 1 issue down and 1 to go right? (Sarcasm) ! :-) I did ask her about the '18 CVO Limited that their dealership bought back from a guy I know for sumping that had the latest pump. Well of course that ended the communication.
I am looking forward to the '19s coming out. I hope these issues have been addressed, I'd hate to see these types of threads continue on even into the '19 models. Guess time will tell. I'm itching to upgrade, but hanging on to see what the '19s bring for changes if any.
Yall are all silly. None of this ever happened. Sumping doesnt exist nor does transfering. This whole thread is in your head. It actually never happened. Haha

Well, IMO, if a dealer said it, then it's a lie.
If you DO believe that stuff, then you might also look into acquiring some prime swampland real estate down in Florida.

fyi.. my post was being sarcastic... wasn't sure if you caught that. I obviously don't believe them as I know of a bike the dealer bought back from a friend of mine for sumping.

Oops! Yep, the sarcasm blew right past me.
Glad you're firmly based in the realities of the dealers and what they have to say.
