SG Fairing vs RK Winshield in the wind.......
For those of you that have had both, how much difference is there between the two when you in some rough wind. I've test ridden Street Glides, but have only had windshields on my last 3 Road Kings. Thinking about jumping over to a new Street Glide but hear some people talk trash about the way the SG Fairing gets tossed around a bit but it's usually being compared to the Road Glide Fairing. I get the comparison there, but what about up against a Road King Windshield?

I had a windshield on my 2015 Heritage, it was quality aftermarket recurve and it was a huge improvement over the stock. Now I ride a SGS and the fairing is far superior to the windshield esp on windy days. I did fit my batwing with a clearview recurve of the correct height so I can see over the top. I ride 2 up 99% of the time and my wife enjoys the protection of the batwing over the windshield also.

After 2 RG’s and now an SGS I can tell you the ride is pretty much the same. No difference in crosswinds. The SG offers better protection in the rain and for the passenger. The SG fairing has more buffeting than the RG stock but fangs cured that. Sorry, comparing faired bikes, no idea with the RK but I know many have said the fangs helped there as well.

There's a big difference between fairing (RG/SG) and windshield (RK).
I've never owned a SG but I have owned 2 RK's (12 RKC and a 17 RKS), a 15 RGS and a 17 RGU. Currently on the 17 RKS and can attest you get MUCH more wind on a RK versus a RG.
I've run Klockwerks shields on the RG's and using their shield for the RK. I also have used Freedom Shields on the RKS.
If you want to stay dryer, have less wind on you, and enjoy the creature comforts fairing bikes offer then it's a no brainer.
I can say the only thing I miss is the GPS, well not the Harley GPS but the idea of GPS and the Tour Pak.
I've done West Texas interstate speeds plus without issue on the RK and while not exactly as smooth and easy in crosswinds versus the RG, it's not crazy difficult to keep on track and I've yet to have any "oh **** moments" due to crosswinds or semi head winds.
I'll admit I do every once in a while look over the RGU's but I'm not quit ready to give up on my King, it's just so damn badass looking and a pleasure to ride

I went from a 17 Heritage with an LRS recurve and fangs to my 18 Ultra Limited...
No comparison.
I had to wear ear plugs with my Heritage any time I was going to go on the highway. With the Ultra I have done 5 hour days without ear plugs and had very minimal ear discomfort at the end of the day(thats doing 75-80 down the highway).
As far as buffeting, even with fangs and the proper height windshield on my Heritage I still got slight buffeting above 70-75mph. I have zero buffeting on my Ultra at any speed.
I honestly dont notice the Ultra having any bad tendencies in the wind or passing trucks or whatever, but perhaps its about the same as the Heritage was so I am used to it and just dont notice it. Ive never ridden a Road Glide so I cant comment on the shark nose.
As far as getting wet in the rain... I would get soaked on the heritage... On the Ultra moving along at 60-65 in the rain its just my face really that gets wet. The lowers protect your feet and legs for the most part, the bat wing protects your hands and arms and the air, for the most part, channels around your shoulders. I wouldnt want to ride all day in the rain in the Ultra, but I got caught a few weeks ago for around 1 hour and it wasnt to bad.
