All my buddies have SG's, and when I ride those bikes it seems like there's a lot of fluttering in my face especially around my sunglasses. How is the Road King with this buffeting issue?
I have a 11 flhrc and once I got the height of the windshield correct for my height on the seat there is now absolutely no buffeting ..it is like I am sitting still when I am going down the highway...Now on my legs that is a different story..
My road king had no buffeting issues with the stock windshield but I had to look through it. I have recently bought a 16" LRS recurve windshield that I look over, similar to a SG, but again no buffeting. The fairing will block a lot more wind than a RK windshield but I'm just not a fairing guy. I've heard the 2014 and up with the "mail slot" fixes a lot of the buffeting issues, I never rode one so I can't say. My Dad just bought a 2015 road glide and there is no buffeting on it even with the shorty shield.
On my RK I have never had a buffeting problem.Top of w/shield is at my eye level.I have previously ridden a 2014 SG and really didn't notice the buffeting.Of course thats why they make different size wind screens to fit different size torso's.
on my RK, I went from the Windshield only to a Memphis shades Batwing with "fangs". Still had some buffeting at head level so I went to a 9" LRS with pretty much took care of it!

I think some of that is air coming up under fairing and up around the tank. My RK did it alittle, but with the fangs or lowers its gone. If I stretch my legs out on the hwy pegs I get alittle air coming through, but if I keep my feet down on the floorboards I don't.
I have a stock height windshield with a recurve from Clearview. The top sits just below eye level for me. No head shake for me with or without hard lowers. If I put my hand above my head, I could feel turbulence starting at about 3-4 inches.
I have an LRS stock replacement shield in dark tint as I hate looking through a shield, mostly because of glare and works great for me. Most of the time I have the Memphis Shades fairing on also with LRS dark tint shields. I don't have any buffeting issues. Nice thing about the Memphis Shades is that you can adjust the angle a bit to your liking. Yeah, I have more than a few of the LRS shields...
The only time I get buffeting is when I put my size 12 boots out on the highway pegs, which disrupts the airflow some. Feet on the boards and it's smooth.
