Curious to get everyone's opinion. I am 6'3" and currently ride a vstar 1300 with the tall windscreen. I am interested in trading up to a SG. Just got back from a long run, 1,080 miles in 3.5 day's from the Texas panhandle to the mountains of NM. Felt like the wind was beating me up all the time even with the tall windscreen and still can't hear very well from the wind. How does the batwing compare to a windscreen as far as wind protection? Thanks!
If you use one of the half moon wings shields with the bat wing it will work very well, but it must be a 10" or taller shield, I don't think the stock shield works very well at all.
what i find is the fairing takes the buffeting off of your chest for face protection the tasller the shield the more buffeting. so i use an 8" windshield which allows most of the wind to be directed over my head.
You may need a taller screen than 10" if you have a longer torso than legs. I've had both a windshield (on a RK) and fairing, and I prefer the fairing. In fact, I had a detachable one on my RK. I put an 8" half-moon windscreen on my 08 SG, it's better than stock, but I am considering getting a taller one for longer road trips.
The stock windshield, while great looking, pretty much sucks.
It is there strickly for looks. I changed mine to the 6" HD version.
Slightly better, but still does not stop your head from buffetting around.
I just ordered the Clearview 8" recurve for mine. I have heard nothing but good things about this windshield.
I have a 6in W/S and I'm 6'3. I rode 700 miles Sunday and listen to my radio all the way. I have very little wind noise an only a little buffeting. I have a Cee Bailey W/S I don't think there's any difference but mine isn't bad at all. Maybe the C&C seat helps since it lowers me a little over an inch.
i got rid of the stock one right away the turbulance was bad.i am 5 11 and got the klock werks ,it works good for me.i dont recall if they have different heights
