Been lurking on the forum for a couple weeks now so I figured I would make my first post. Names Ryan and Im from central Florida, 2017 street glide build in process. 6300 miles, tts , 475 cam, stainless 2-1 built by me, head work and s/e valve springs, adj push rods, s/e lifters , s/e injectors, 4.125 bore and in the process of searching for a clutch and breather set up.
update! Loaded a base tts tune on it yesterday and did my 4 heat cycles. I selected the rs468 tune (no tune for 475cam) and changed the ci to 117. Idle it until I felt heat on cylinder, shut it off and repeated this 4 times. No leaks or strange noises so far. I pulled the drain plug and drained the oil and also pulled filter to make sure it had oil running through it. Im very nervous with the oil pump binding up or something crazy happening with that but so far no oil light and no valve train noise so Im sure if the pump was not centered I would know pretty quick? I ended up going with the s&s air cleaner and aim clutch. I plan to give docs tuning a call today for some dyno time hopefully this week.
Another update for those that are following. Doc is set up for The 18th of this month at 9am! After speaking with him he advised that it would be fine to put 100 miles or so on the bike and a proper break in procedure. I did some small updates on my base tune before the ride and rode roughly 30 miles, bike runs very smooth from idle -2500 as I kept it right around there per his 50 mile instructions. I do have one issue and that is Im hearing a slight tapping which seems to be coming from the front lower primary. I checked the oil and cps drain after it was nice and warm and oil was spot on and cps drain was .5 oz so no issues there, next I pulled plugs and rotated end tdc compression and checked pushrods and they were able to spin with no up and down play, same for rears. My next step was I removed the primary cover and checked the auto Tensioner, Tensioner clicked itself up to 6 teeth from zero and the chain was within 1/2-5/8 slack. I did have the chain and compensator off when I was installing everything and Im feeling like I may have something going on with the compensator causing this noise, is there a certain alignment process for them? Any key things I should be looking for in the primary area for this noise? Thanks in advanced!
