South107 - check out the S&S Grand Nationals. They have a nice idle, sound aggressive while accelerating but no drown at highway speeds. I have hearing damage in my right ear and cannot ride with certain muffler tones. I’ve had Rinehart 4”, V&H Monster Rounds, Fuel Moto Hi Rollers and the S&S full exhaust with 4.5” mufflers like the MK45s but wth high flow cats in them. The MK45s are slightly deeper than the Grand Nationals but both sould offer you a nice sound with little to no highway drone. I’m currently running the GNs and plan to keep them when I upgrade to the same 468 cam you have. There are a couple of sound clips on the S&S website and a lot of YouTube videos but I can tell you from experience they offer little to no drone at highway speeds and both offer removable DB reducers if you decide you want them a little louder.
Good Luck
Thank you for pointing out what I am and what I’ve never done.
I hit a deer at 60 mph and sustained a head injury.
My issue is not the noise, Its a specific tone that’s causing ringing in my ears now since my upgrade. Never posted b4 and got a lot of helpful advice from knowledgeable people.
Th internet is just a reflection of society. Most people are good and will be helpful, some are just a-holes. Let it roll off your back! I know what you mean about certain frequencies and the tonal harmonic's, I have some tinnitus from years of UHF radio's in my ears so I ended up going to a ENT and getting some custom ear plugs made. Helped alot. Once you get your pipes and tune sorted out, you're gonna dig the 468!

In defense of the .468 cam, that IS the most powerful plug/play currently available cam for an M8, that we have tuned/tested here.
A true home run, in a 107", and then turns into a card-carrying monster if the cylinders are bored to accept 4.125" pistons, bringing the swept volume to 117".....tuned correctly.

I did a lot of research going into the stage 2 and found that the z-468 is what I was lookin for. Unfortunately i have not found it to be slightly more then the stock cam. Idk what the issue is.
I removed the FP3 and bought the ThinderMax tuner that I was told I needed for this cam to work properly with my set up. After that, Im then told I need more back pressure for the M8 so I buy monster rounds that creat more back pressure. The bike defiantly ran better once those were installed but Im still dealing with a low rpm hesitation/miss riding thru town. At highway speeds the bike is solid and runs excellent. IThe performance so far is nothing to rave about in my experience. Maybe its all in the tuning. I was told its possibly mechanical so I rechecked the timing and re did the push rod adjustment just so I can tell Zippers and thindermax its not mechanical.
if you have any suggestions Im listening, and would really appreciate any advice you have. I have talked to TMax support daily since I installed the tuner.

Did you by any chance ask Reno HD if they could dyno tune it with the TMax? They may be able to. I would wait until you find the mufflers you want to stay with before you spend that money though. Basically, for what the TMax costs you can buy a Powervision or a TTS and have the bike dyno tuned. Zippers asserts that the TMax is self tuning, but I personally have never had any success with it and I tried it a couple times. I don't think it marries to the bike though, so you should be able to sell it if you can't get it to perform for you.

I have the same hearing issue and now I ride with the BOSE QC 30 and I can adjust the tone with the noise cancellation feature. It's adjustable from low to high and I could not ride without them

South- Please do keep us posted. I just finished up my install as well and have had the same thoughts as you. I did tons of research as well before settling on the 468 cam. I was expecting much more from this cam and my setup but was left with only a very slight increase in power (from the butt dyno). I know my bike is mechanically on the money so I am thinking it has to be the tune. I am using a Powervision with the Fuel Moto tune. I have since done 2 Auto Tunes on top of that. It did get mostly rid of that off idle stumble and the bike responds better. But those reviewers saying that after installing the cam, "the bike lifted the front tire off the ground" or "spun the rear tire"....... Yeah, I am not seeing ANYTHING like that here. I was impressed with the increased sound I gained and how the bike idles. At least it now sounds like a Harley Davidson. HA!
I have the D&D Fat Cat 2-1 it can be really loud but has no drone ,I sold the V&H 2-2 because the drone was terable , I'm running the FP3 with SE8-447 cam and the bike is crazy fast with torque , Just ordered the Pro Kit for wide band Tunning.
Most guys I know and for me personally, have found adding a high performance cam to a Harley engine seems to make the bike substantially louder even with the same exhaust as before. It's just the nature of the beast. I run a 468 in my '17 RGS with a D&D Billet cat. The Red Shift 468 was developed with the D&D exhaust so that is a good choice for best performance. Unfortunately it's a bad choice for someone who is sensitive to noise. My bike is Dyno tuned with a Powervision. It's fast and it's loud when the throttle is rolled on. Going down the highway it's not too bad for me. I can hear my stereo just fine around 70 mph. Not so much after that. Would ear plugs make it tolerable? I'm afraid if you are really that noise sensitive you might be better off with a stock motor and stock exhaust. These M8s aren't slouches stock and are pretty quiet.
Honestly (and this goes for every engine HD has ever made) just changing the cam gives mediocre results. Yea, it's a bit faster and the torque is there but nothing compares to head work (porting) boring of the cylinders and piston swaps ie compression ratios, throttle bodies, injectors, its when you combine all those items when you get what you're expecting. A simple cam swap is basically a "stage 2" and there's not much meat on the bones, at least not for me.
