I just purchased a new 2020 CVO road glide and was going to order the 131 crate engine from Harley as opposed to doing the 117 to 131 kit. My question is what do you think I could sell the 117 engine with now miles for on eBay or wherever? I seen some used 110 engines bring $3500. Just trying to offset some of the big cost. Also I have heard that some dealers will take my 117 engine on trade for like $500 difference... Thanks
Your 117 motor will be for parts only. Case numbers will be voided by hd, thus rendering the cases useless. When you buy a new motor it comes with a certificate of origin, so you can legally register the bike with a different motor case # than the original. Might want to look into this, most of this was done because of the theft issues and stolen parts.
Just put a sweet Cam kit in it and ride that sucker. If you go with a 131" your going to want to put a Cam in it anyways. If I had your money, that's what I'd do.....
Dutchy
Since you seem to be well funded, arrange for FuelMoto to build it up. Have them do the whole Shabang: 131 kit, great cam, full exhaust with headers, great non EPA dyno tune.
Assuming that with your funding level, you can give HD the middle finger on the warranty.

Your engine will not be complete, as many parts will be needed to be transferred to the new one. That said your takeout is worth what someone is willing to pay for it at the time you put it up for sale. I just bought a takeout 114 that was removed from a 2020 RGS with zero miles on it for $2100. There seems to be several of them for sale on ebay currently so others are doing just what your thinking.

Do the kit instead of the crate engine. You'll save significant amount of money.
