I have a Kenwood head unit that runs AA (and CarPlay) wirelessly, but as was pointed out- the HEAD UNIT must have WiFi built into it. Harley hasn't managed to integrate Bluetooth Communications protocols into the Boom systems, so we're probably a decade away from wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay from the Moco!
As for battery life: I haven't noticed that running AA wirelessly in my truck was causing too much extra drain, but for the most part, I just plug it in so it's charging AND running AA.
Yeah, I dont have an issue with having to plug it in. It's always plugged in anyway.
You may have a bad USB connection. My phone kept dropping out w/bad cable connection errors. I've seen similar issues connecting to my laptop to move data. Borrowed my wife's new phone & it works fine. My phone has had the connection beat to **** by our dog jumping on it when I have it connected it my car, standing upright in cup holder with cord sticking up. Eventually I'll need to get a new phone. My LG V30 is like 4 years old now.
that was it. Tried a different cable today and launched and stayed running. Thanks for the suggestion
Yes, that's the correct update. Do you have settings correct? Do you have Projection Mode selected? Android Auto must be installed on your phone. Your phone should unlocked when you plug in to nUSB cable.
Never used Android Auto. Is there a step by step out there anywhere? I'd like to try it on the Ultra.
I would suggest searching You Tube videos for some help. H-D has an infoscreen for Car Play. Android Auto should work similarly but don't know that for sure.

1) update your system 2)turn your bike on 3}wait for the radio to boot 4) plug your phone in to the USB port on your bike 5) hit the Home button on your bike 6) the right most button on you screen will now be the Android auto icon. 6) push it.
It will likely default to Google maps on your screen. To access other apps, push the round button on the lower left of your screen.

As mentioned above.
In addition if you havent used Android Auto before you will also need to download the app to your phone. The first time you hook your phone to the bike there will be a few steps to go through on your phone. The start to finish process took me about 15 minutes.

Agree but most android phones in the last 3 years will have it already installed.
Did All of You have the Jan update in before doing this? I had not done it and have done the Newest flash for android auto One but it wont do Android Auto :-(
