Default Fuel Moto Pushrods

Today I plan on adjusting my pushrods - I am running Woods Knight prowler alpha series directional lifters with a 22x cam.

The FM site says 4 turns after zero backlash (at bottom of the lobe) - "(S&S and OEM lifters approx. 3.5 turns, Wood’s lifters require 4 turns)"

"Fuel Moto EZ pushrods are 24 TPI (threads per inch)"

The Woods site says "Extend push rods to reach .120 to .130 total travel.....24 TEETH = .042 travel"

Therefore, 4 turns X .042" = .168

Based on the math it seems 3 turns x .042 = .126 would do it

Thoughts?

The card I got with my x22 cam kit states .120-.140, I checked the pushrod length with a caliper and set mine to 3.5 turns (.138).
The lifters are dead quiet, right from the start.

A note I got with the pushrods in the kit I bought from FM stated 4 turns with Wood Lifters. I did my own math and used 3.5 turns.

Thanks guys for chiming in - I usually would give FM a call as I live right here in Appleton but its Sunday and I am on a mission

I looked at the woods card that came with mine and yep - .120-.140 so a little different than their site.

OldMike - thanks for the confidence of doing the measurements and math myself so, out with the calipers...on with the turns.

Got me thinking... 0.138 / 3.5 Turns = .039"

1 Turn / .039" = 25.36 Teeth per Inch

With a stated 24 - I am probably over thinking it - I will unscrew the locking nut 24 turns and measure the distance in between to get an average distance per turn than calculate the number of turns from that.

I'm not good at math, plus I'm lazy, I trust FM so I just do the 4 turns like they instruct.

The FM pushrods are not 24 TPI. I measured mine and they came out at right around 25.3 TPI. This is probably why FM instructs you to go 4 turns. Even though 4 turns will put you at more than .140 of a inch preload.
