I believe I left the tappet block covers loose until I got the pushrods in the hole then tightened the blocks. It helps if they are moveable.
It is a tight fit and they will go in I promise. Take your time here.
I just realized this is an M8 I was thinking twin cam but it still should apply here too.
Make 100% sure the pushrod is fully collapsed, that you are installing them in the proper intake/exhaust orientation, and it takes some finesse to get the pushrod seated into the rocker arm.
The only thing i can think of is im not getting the top of the pushrod into the pocket of the rocker arm but i did collapse them as far as they can turn. i know its not the covers since ive tried without the covers.Ill give it another whirl this afternoon
Yes they are marked and double checked to make sure i am using the correct rod. Intake on inside and exhaust on outside
It's pretty well guaranteed that you problem is that your PR isn't properly seated in the rocker arm. As Jamie and others have said, "it takes some finesse to get the pushrod seated into the rocker arm". I had the exact same problem as you. Although I was positive that the PR felt seated in the proper position, there was no way that PR would clear the lifter block. Like you, I was at my wits end. I finessed and finessed a lot more.... then all of a sudden, it popped right in as designed.

Good luck,, you will get it with patience.
Definitely this.
I struggled too to get them in. Finesse is a good word for it. Once I got it seated in the rocker arm, I SLOWLY moved it around the lifter block opening until it went in. It was like there was only one sweet spot and It took awhile to find it.
