Theyre not that expensive! I believe mine was $120 from Surdyke HD. Money well spent in my eyes.
well thats what they quoted me for my m8. my twin cam service manual was 65 bucks. just sayin thats what they cost and thats what the parts guy said.funny thing is i never needed it for a cam change. probably will need it to adjust the belt lol
Heck, that's nothing. Over in general chat there's a guy whining about having to run 91+ octane gas in his $$$$ new Harley.
I have 10 gallons of Klotz 114 racing fuel in the garage. Once a month I fill my tank 2/3rd racing fuel 1/3rd pump gas. Runs so good it makes your nipples hard.

Find another dealer. never set foot in that one again. Write the Owner not the general manager and explain in detail why. Those type dealerships are owner by no resident people. Meaning they are not there they have a general manger that runs it . This is a big problem with The market plan.

First sentence is right; second, not so much...write the owner about an over-priced service manual??
i got quoted a price of 400 bucks for a service manual from a dealer. I dont care how much i spend on a bike. aint paying that much for a shop manual and i didnt. Did my first cam on my m8 using youtube and the internet and this forum was a big help too.
Your problem isn't the cost of the manual, it's that someone tried to rip you off. The best way to fix this problem is to buy your parts, etc. elsewhere. Starting with your manual.
It's like Legos for big kids. If you can do bars, you can do a cam. Take your time and triple check everything. You got this.
this is probably the worst advice ever. I've seen engines destroyed by people who didn't know what they were doing but thought like this. They should sit down and read the procedure in the service manual, and make the decision on their own whether or not they understand and feel comfortable with doing what is outlined there.
Thanks for posting that. I was looking in all the wrong places. They are as much as $200 on EBay/Amazon, and $125 had been the best price I had seen. Or maybe it was $149. Anyway, $96 is great thanks.

Ever? Ever? Wow you must not have heard advice given very often. I wouldn't even rank that in the top 1% of bad advice ever.
I thought it was a given that the OP would read the manual and educate himself. Quite presumptuous to assume he wouldn't. This isn't rocket science. It's pretty simple **** lol. If basic instructions are too much to follow, then absolutely, don't touch your bike. I didn't get that impression from the OP. Sometimes people need a little moral support to do what they're perfectly capable of, and that's what I was offering.
