There is a small but subtle difference, if memory serves me right it’s on the top edge of the backing plate on the original the lip is machined for the cover to fit.

Okay, Thanks! I get it now. That's what they are talking about. So, the HD Ventilator cover doesn't fit the K&N backing plate very well unless it has been machined by Fuel Moto. I've only been wondering about that since I did the build two years ago. Not that I lost any sleep over it, but thanks for putting it to rest.
I have the ventilator extreme on my my 2019 cvo street glide. It doesnt stick out much and flows very well. I plan on using it when i go to a 128 very soon.
I was also considering that filter, but after talking with FM, they said that in the test they did they were a little disappointed with the ventilator extreme, didn't say it would not work, just that it did not perform like they thought it should. Now I am thinking about the FM ac dc filter with a S&S cover.
I went with the FM Ventilator and the HD cover plate with the Screamin Eagle Medallion. It does stick out further than the stock air cleaner but after a few rides, I didn't notice any difference. (2018 FLHTK 107 M8)
Any one using the Screamin Eagle Extreme Ventilator on a Milwaukee eight touring? If so what are your thoughts on this air breather, going to have FM 128 big bore installed in a few weeks and was thinking about going with this over my Heavy breather.
That will be a great choice over your heavy breather.
