Fair warning. Nearly every racing and trackday organization has banned the use of the K&N oil filters because they blow out the gasket. Which is unfortunate because the idiotic location of these filters makes that welded nut on the end a godsend.
My nephew asked me to do his oil change for him last fall. His filter was on there so tight that the oil filter wrench was slipping. I had to jam a flat head where the cut out on the wrench is in order to loosen the filter and it still took quite a bit of force to remove it. One of the many reasons why I like to do my own servicing, also had a dealer several years back strip out my oil drain plug and instead of installing a helicoil insert they decided to use teflon tape on the threads...

I used a 1/2 drive with 3/8 adapter and pushed real hard on it while turning..all it needed was that first little nudge but yeah, do not ever need more than 1/2 turn after contact
Because it doesn't work for **** either..... I have an old bicycle innertube cut that I have to wedge between the cup and filter to it doesn't slip. My 3 jaw works good for getting it off, but mangles it somewhat, so I don't use that to reinstall.

Usually that does the trick but this sucker was on there way past that working. I never had a filter on that tight before on any vehicle!

Never heard any of that, not saying its not true but would you mind sharing where this info came from?

Works well for me pushing on it like mjwebb described. As long as the person installing the previous filter didn't tighten the hell out of it.
Tons of articles out there about it. And pick a trackday org and look at their rules.
I contacted K+N and they said all of this came about in 2017, which looks like the dates on the stories as well. They had tech notes on the KN171 filter which is the Harley touring filter and it was revised in 2017 to correct any issues with thread engagement which was the cause for the o ring leakage.
