Dragos Bike Works also has a 2:1 / 2:1:2 single header option. They recommend their race muffler option for best performance. I imagine that the right baffle would be crucial to getting it right. As a side note, Sheffer Performance tuned a 128 with a stock decatted headpipe and still made around 140 hp, I’m sure there was some left on the table but…….
Been thinking of this for a while. I run stock mufflers, stock air cleaner from a '19 sport glide, and a decatted head pipe with no tuner. The bike run great; the plugs are fine, a solid 46.5 MPG (on the two lanes), and no pinging/knocking/ or backfiring. I used a 1 5/8" freeze plug ( that I left in the freezer over night) and it tapped in easily; I did have to use an expansion tool for the cross over pipe to make it easier to put back on (I do this any time I pull an exhaust apart, just goes back together easier) . And then tightened the clamp. Took it for a 20 mile ride and the butt dyno feels like a tad bit more jump at the hit of the throttle but very rideable and the exhaust note seems about the same. I'll go for a longer ride in a few days (damn house still hasn't learned how to remodel itself) and check the plugs & mileage, and such. But so far so good.
Hi, bringing up an old post here... did the 1-5/8 freeze plug go over the pipe or in the pipe?
unsolicited advice... Before you pound the plug in the pipe, put a bolt into the end of the cap with some left extended out to where you can grip it should you change you mind. You can use the exposed bolt to pull that bitch back out, else its permanent.
