I know I've seen this topic on here enough... I just got a new to me '18 CVO Street Glide. How do I know if I have the vent installed and if I don't, should I have it installed?
There is a rubber tube coming out from the top of your primary. Its fairly obvious to see. They should have installed it for you, for free. There was a service bulletin on it in 2019. Mid or later 2019 models had it installed. Prior to that, it was a simple dealer fix.
If you dont have it, call your dealer and have them install it. It requires drilling, and its best (in my opinion) that the liability be on the dealer, and not the owner.
ride it and monitor trans level...they don't all have the problem..if yours doesn't fluctuate then don't fix what ain't broken..there's a slight possibility I suppose by introducing change by adding the vent could allow moisture and condensation to enter via heating and cooling cycles so cause and effect may be a thing..I would only do it if it was going to alleviate or solve a problem I guess is what I'm saying

There is a vent on the transmission already. I have never heard of one rusting out and failing yet! Pretty sure a primary vent would be in the same league.

I just went and looked and there is not one on my street glide. I'll call the dealer and see what they say.
It wasnt a recall so most dealers will adjust the fluid and tell you to ride for 1k miles and bring it back for inspection, if it transfers they will install the vent. If you have a good relationship with the dealer they may throw you a bone and just install it but that varies.
