Forgive me if this has been covered, I did a search and didn't really find an answer to my question.
I ride a 2020 Street Glide, stage 2 and just running slip-ons at this point. I wanted a bit more volume so I switched from Khrome Werks to Tab Performance with Zombie baffles. I put a handful of miles on before removing them (they are garage art now I guess) and switching back to my Khrome Werks.
For me they were just too loud but more importantly I lost some low end torque and no sound is worth a loss of power in my opinion. Great for the guys that don't mind, it just doesn't fit me.
So to make things flow better, run cooler, etc......I am going to gut my CAT and buy a Power Vision from Fuel Moto.
My long winded question being, am I going to lose a ton of back pressure again by removing the CAT and be back in the same boat?
If your going to gut the cat, I think I would purchase a manufactured head pipe from like KW or FM that has the clips for the stock heat shields so you don't lose the low end torque you would with a gutted cat. YMMV...
you will lose low end torque for sure. i have a s and s catless sidewinder 2 into 1 and i run it with the baffles in. its plenty loud like this but if i take out the baffles its super loud and sounds cool but defintley a lose of torque.
If you just gut the cat without adding some more length to the headpipe, you will lose bottom end, The companies that sell/ exchange the gutted headpipes have done just that in the now empty chamber where the Cat once resided. As far as making it also a 2 into 1 pipe, why not take advantage of that larger right side diameter and cut some free weight off the bike.
Nothing wrong with the torque cam, unless you don't care about warranty. Than there are plenty of great cams, I have used torque cam in 4 of my newest bikes even with the power vision tuner.
Forgot to mention, stay away from the Ripper insert, it is literally a straight pipe insert that is the same as a Tab zombie baffle, its a performance killer!
ON my 107 with a RS 468 cam and OEM exhaust it makes real good bottom end, look at my Dyno sheet. only modification I did was to open the rear baffle by slamming a piece of pipe up in there.
You may want to check with the Fuel Moto insert to see if it will fit the Tabs. Also, DK Torque inserts another option. Wont quiet the bike but will help in the reversions effects.
