I've done it a few times , I have a lookout/stop on my favorite set of twisties at night . I stop there and try and time my run back down with no cages to pass or few to pass , so yea I sit and wait and when I see headlights from up the range and if the timing of previous cages/no cages is right I go ,and yea once or twice I got the red oil light up from starting her up too early.
Been starting my bike for 5 years off and on without waiting and never gotten a solid oil pressure light. Just went to the garage and tried to replicate what some here are saying and still no dice. What's the trick?
You're hitting start straight up before the fuel pump and the ECM cycles , my bike is a 19 if your sig is current yours is a 17 could it be that????
Other than that NFI mate , honestly you've blown my all M8 bikes theory out of the water but as I say mine red lights if I kick her in the guts hastily. .

Maybe its that, the year. I was just curious honestly. Interesting that yours does that.

Well after a few bikes had oil pump issues early on maybe they wanted to protect the bike with a different ECM cycle with an oil light warning in later YM's , does your bike have the 17 YM oil pump ?
Some bikes just have quirks too.

I've had both. The MY17 and now the new 8 lobe after a cam change.
in my example, I was stopped on an uphill / incline..wonder if possibly the oil level was relevant in the hurried start and take off? probably digging deep on that but no idea what triggered my light to come on, isolated incident in unusual circumstances
Not to resurrect an old thread but I just had this happen. I upgraded my cam about 17K miles ago and added the My20 8 lobe pump when I did it so, there shouldn't be any oil pressure issues. The last 17K miles have been trouble free and then all the sudden on my way to a bike night, the oil light comes on. I pulled over, shut the bike off and checked the oil, it was full. So, started the bike back up and no oil light, went to bike night and back home and it never came back on. I guess I may order a new sending unit and replace just in case. There was never any sign of low oil pressure, no valve clatter or anything like that.
