I do find it odd to be normal. The only time Ive ever heard a lifter rattle is when the wife’s 103 sat for two unridden months, and then, only a 5-10 second period. I’ve had 6 Harley’s, from evo to M8, only the 103 rattled. This with a variety of stock and aftermarket lifters between the engines. Just my experience.

and if it did it would just be compensating for a weakness elsewhere..if using the prescribed fluids then they contain everything the engine needs already.....as HD even states about the use of additives being unnecessary ..'blended with an additive package already included. Other additives are not needed and may not be compatible and in fact, oil additives may actually dilute the correct formulation' ......would be like adding sugar to a can of Coca Cola to try and 'improve' it

So you guys are saying it's no big deal, it ain't hurting anything, just live with the racket. Anybody here with a 2020 or later M8 whose lifters went bad?
Are you even reading the responses? Consensus is that lifter rattle that goes quiet within 2 minutes is normal on a cold start. Personally my M8 is less than 10 seconds, OEM and also now the Wood Knight Prowler lifters in the StageII. All things mechanical like Lifters do go bad, so have the pushrods and lifters checked if you’re still confused/concerned…🤷

the MOCO and a few here say it’s normal. I don’t think it is. I sure don’t hear all the ford/Chevy/etc V8 lifters clacking for ten seconds when they start up, but that’s just me. Personally, if it were a recurring problem, I would just replace them and be done with it. Especially with the reputation of “C” lifters.

What the hell is your problem, Jack? If you don't mind, I'll make up my own damn mind about my own damn problems. I will consider ALL the information. Who the hell died and made your the damn expert?

Got any ideas why the moco doesn't cert their engine oil per ILSAC or API?
