I installed a cam and used a power vision tuner from Fuel Moto. When I took the bike for a ride it threw code P1693h about 10 miles into ride. I cleared the code and it came back up today after a 75 mile ride. When I checked the code on the bike using the power vision it comes up as P1693h / P169300h (PN 001796-01) Cooling fan right circuit shorted to ground. The fan is still working. Any advice would be appreciated!
They have an "H" after them which means a historical code...
The code was tripped, then corrected itself.... it will stay as a "historical" code for a certain number of engine cycles, and if it doesn't trip again, it will clear itself.
Since you cleared it, it came back, but it's not showing as an active code.... I suspect an intermittent short to the right cooling fan circuit.
Usually an intermittent code like that (comes and goes) could be a wiring issue, or the precursor to a part failure...
In this case, I would inspect the wiring to the right cooling fan. Since the code involves "shorted to ground", check the wires for chafing, that could lead to intermittent shorts...
Thank you for the reply! I did check the wiring and reconnected the connector to make sure it was connected. I then thought to call Fuel Moto yesterday to ask them if they saw this issue with tuning the bike. They were actually aware of this issue and have been working with DynoJet to fix it. The bike is running great otherwise with the tune from FM and the customer service has been outstanding!
I have the same problem. This the first time my tuner has run into this, also his first 2021.
He is going to check with DynoJet.
I called DynoJet and the rep. I talked to said he hasn't heard about this before.
Hope they get it figured out.
I just got off the phone with FM and they are aware of the problem, have found a fix for it, and are emailing me a new tune for the Stage 1 mods I have done. They said I will need to reload the original tune first, then load the new tune they are sending, and I will likely still need to Autotune a couple of times. They also said the fix will be in a future firmware revision to the Dynojet
Did exactly like I stated above but did not run an Autotune session yet. No DTCs and bike ran fine. Gave the bike plenty of opportunities to run the fans, and they did when expected. When reloading original and new tune, I did not reset air/fuel adjustment tables, which may save from having to do Autotune sessions and adjustments. Dont know if that would save you from having to dyno tune again as that may be dependent on what all the tuner did with the dyno runs.
