I will need to pay all labor cost on this. If this keeps getting more and more expensive with all this inflation eating up my limited income I may never get it done.. My 20 M8 with the Rienhart 4" mufflers don't sound real bad. when I start up my 14 Road King with just stage 1, my M8 sounds like a lawnmower then..
Thank you for the advice.

Might be time to learn to do it yourself.
Save for breaking that 1 bolt, which was preventable, I did all the work myself.
I'm a 32yo gal, who's never worked on an engine by herself before.
I installed an SE Oilpump system, SE cam, needlebearing, SnS tappet cuffs, and SE adjustable pushrods myself. Took some time, but it saved me at least 1000$.
If I can do it, you probably can too.
If you're gonna do that, you need to add this set of advice with it. https://university.fuelmotousa.com/a...-removal-tips/
I wish I had read this before attempting to replace my tappet cuffs.
Snapped a bolt, turned into a 433$ problem, killed my summer travel plans.
Umm yeah I followed your broken bolt thread. Nope...not me....I pay professionals to do that stuff. lol

That time came and went 20 years ago. But it's cool you did all that on your own. I don't have any personal friends to help me. Wished you lived in Lansing Mi. i don't have the special tools.or.the ability to do it myself. You must be one cool chick 😊

Not sure where you got quotes from, but total install for my cam is around 400 bucks. More than I paid for my 17, but different shop and labor costs have gone up. Then he'll be putting it on the dyno, so total labor and dyno will be around 800.

That's an incredible price. Around here they typically want 6 hours at 150.00 an hour (900 bucks). That's just for labor. Another reason I do my own work...

My 17, the guy was a harley tech that started his own shop. He charged me 3 hours at 65 an hour for the cam job including installing FM headers. No dyno, just the canned map.
The guy doing my 2020 is the one I used to dyno my 17 about 8 months after the install. He charges 70 an hour I think now but quoted like 5 hours labor. He's welding the larger bungs in my stock decatted headers. Then I think he charges 350 or 400 for the dyno. He's pretty well known around here and very good.

Wow, that's a good hourly rate. They charge around $120 / hr in Texas and Wyoming. A good friend that works at a independent shop in Texas charges 5 hours, so it's $600 labor, and another $160 to decat the OEM head pipe.
It's a trustworthy shop that does good work, and they are typically book for weeks ahead of time.
