I was out riding yesterday and had to accelerate hard to get off at my exit. After I stopped at the light at the bottom of the exit, I heard the engine tapping/knocking. It was not there before I got off the highway. I have heard that Harley's have a ticking sound, but seems louder than a "ticking sound" to me. I have always owned Goldwings and this is my first Harley.
Checked the oil lately? Could possibly be a lifter that didn't stay pumped up when you accelerated hard. Definitely should be looked at sooner rather than later. Yes they all make some noise and some more than others but it's when the noise changes and is not normal for your bike thar you need to check it out.
Or, you could take it in to a mechanic and have it checked. That, to me, seems like a better option than asking for people on a forum who cant hear your bike to diagnose it.

"I used to live in a sound proof booth, now I live at the race track. Sure is noisy around here!"
How many miles on the bike, how many miles since an oil change, does the engine have the newest 8 lobe oil pump? Answers that we dont know but you should. However like advised above, if theres a change in the sound/performance and you dont know why its best to get it checked out. Keep us posted 😉
I try to keep things simple......could it have been lower than 91 octane gas/bad gas? could just be detonation if its happening on throttle roll-on.
If it's low octane, you could always throw some octane boost in there, to see if it helps. If it's bad gas, live with it until it's near empty, and use 93 octane "good" gas.
Also, if it's a "custom" tune, like a "power vision" the timing may be a bit off.....just shooting arrows....not trying to muddy the water.
