We only drive GM trucks and SUVs, so we have had several since its inception in 2007. No issues as far as they go.

In the HD, I am not concerned, nor excited. I will watch, and wait. Most likely there is no way in hell that I would want to keep a lame EPA certified stock cam in my new bike, so the aftermarket will save me. Whether or not that new cam is VVT remains to be seen...

Would add layers of complications and hardware these engines won't deal well with and the size increase to accommodate the mechanicals would make already oversized and heavy bikes ridiculous.

I'm not sure thats accurate. The Panamerca (and every other bike with VVT) is just fine and not over weight.

PA's are a niche market, in the classic V Twin which is the very soul of harley davidson it would be. They go away from the classic engine design harley as we know it will fade into obscurity, people won't pay flagship prices for a clone they can get cheaper elsewhere and knowing the moco's track record with new innovation they'll screw the pooch with it anyway.

The RevMax engine used in the PanAm and new Sportster is much smaller in size and it components are much smaller and lighter. It also has 4 cams so you can control each intake and exhaust cam individually. From the posted pictures of the new replace M8 it appears they are just using a single phaser much like GM and Ford and others did almost 20 years ago. With HD's past poor oil control system I hope there is not going to be issues as phaser type systems rely on oil pressure to work properly. If the pressure is not controlled well, the phaser will not work properly and hold a steady position.
