The process is called out in the factory service manual.

I know but until recenlty I never opend it. No big deal, I'm in no hurry.
I did look at the sproket but you have to draw the line somewhere. I've already went deeper into this bike than I originally intended on doing. Its a deep, deep rabbit hole.

Itwill be finished just when the new CVO's are available and I want.

That do you need the press for? I didn't when I installed a Trask basket.

How did you press the hub out of the old shell, and how did you press hub back into the new shell?

I don't have a press at home, so I knocked it out, then back in with a dead blow hammer. The fit into the bearing isn't that tight, but a press is certainly the proper tool.

I considered hammering it out but it's a press was not that much and I was afraid beating on that cast part would cause issues down the road. I've got plenty of time.

You have to remove the snap rings, press the old bearing out then drill out the rivets that hold the shell together. Reassembly requires bolting the new clitch basket in and re-installing the bearing and snap rings.

It seems as though you might not have liked my answer, and while I'll admit it's probably not the best method, it works.
