Default Is My Oil Pump Binding? Help!

Was told to cross post my concern here, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Just looking for some advice on something that may seem a bit silly to even ask.
Am currently doing my first ever cam install on my 2018 Road King, and updated the oil pump to the latest and greatest from the MoCo while I'm in there. I just installed cam support plate and torqued all "outer" plate screws to proper spec, while the 4 "inner" pump screws were only snugged up, then rotated engine twice and torqued those 4 to spec too.

However, it feels like I'm getting slight resistance in 2 spots while rotating engine over, and getting the sound of air coming out of crank when I hit the slight resistance. Is this normal? Or did I mess something up reassembling new oil pump? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just a guess, but perhaps normal piston compression ?
Do you have the plugs pulled? If not, pull the plugs and rotate the engine over. Having the plugs pulled will relieve the cylinder compression when rotating the engine.

I replied this to your other post.
You could be feeling the compression strokes and hearing the normal leakage going past your rings.
Edit: As said above, pull the plugs and try again.

2 Plugs have been pulled for days, should i pull the other 2?I'm wondering if it's vacuum from crankcase that I'm hearing, as pistons move up and down.

In any case, my main concern is the slight resistance I feel while rotating the wheel. It doesn't necessarily bind up per se, but I do feel like maybe it's a bit more effort than it should be?

Removing one plug is fine, though I recommend checking your top plugs for tightness.

Had the exact same slight resistance you described when I installed the S&S pump and plate in my 18. My crank runout was <.002 so I knew that wasn't an issue and I had plenty of assembly lube. Wasn't a big deal to repeat the process so loosened everything up, re tightened and it was exactly the same as before, just slight resistance in a couple spots. Finished the assembly, flashed the tune and enjoyed the ride.

Could call a vendor like Fuel Moto, which is what I did, or call a trusted mechanic if you're unsure.

Thanks for the reply! I'm sure I'm over thinking it. Probably just compression resistance I'm feeling, even with 1 plug pulled in each head. I'll slap it all back together and keep my fingers crossed I don't hear funny noises when I fire it up

I may call FM tomorrow. I did purchase everything from them, I'm sure they wouldn't mind giving me a little friendly advice. Thanks!

You'll always experience a tiny bit of resistance at certain points when spinning the crank around. I've always though it was right around the point the pistons were changing direction. Doubt it's the oil pump dragging.

One suggestion is to make sure the pump is properly seated. I'd loosen everything, spin the motor over and see what that does, them re-torque
