I have a 22 Street Bob with 9000 miles. No issues at all. I did a Stage II kit at 4000 miles and the bike really moves. In addition to the engine work, I upgraded the seat, brakes, and suspension to make it what I wanted.
Not any more. Probably the only thing is they have a lot of mechanical noise, but no problems, especially if you leave them stock from what I'm reading here.

Or not stock. I've put 40k on two bikes with the same aftermarket set up on both. Trouble free so far.

not agreeing on a lot of mechanical noise, just the opposite on our 5 M8s from 17-24 accumulating ~200,000 miles. Much quieter than their predecessors and continue to impress in that regard, and many others
Maybe it's just mine. I get some valve clatter and a whirring from the counterbalancers that I don't remember so much with my twin cams. I'm not worried about it, this is the best motor I've ever had. If anyone is really concerned about longevity they should get a look at Rookie06's post '200k and going strong' over in the General Harley Davidson Chat section.....
