Howdy,
Dropping in a 131 crate motor, complete, not a build motor, is a HUGE investment. For those of you who already have put in a 131 crate motor:
1. What did you upgrade from (year and engine size)
2. What additional parts/items did you change/upgrade when you did the motor swap?
3. How many miles have you put on the motor/bike so far?
4. What's the longest distance have you ridden ?
5. Any regrets ?
6. MPG?
7. Any performance issues ?
Thank you,
The more complete the answers are, the better the information will be for people considering the upgrade.
well you can't fault your Subject Line description for not being noticed..I talked with our Mast tech and others over the last couple years about those big bore crate motors..think he said that have had a couple for a long time collecting dust as very expensive paper weights..that's a ton of $ to spend and not surprised they don't sell well..but I'm sure you'll find someone to come along and some point and weigh in
1. What did you upgrade from (year and engine size)
2017 107 to a built 124 .124 to A 131 crate after the 124 had major issues from broken valve spring. 2. What additional parts/items did you change/upgrade when you did the motor swap?
Change pistons to 11.3:1. PSI valve springs, TTS 250 cam 3. How many miles have you put on the motor/bike so far?
About 12 k miles 4. What's the longest distance have you ridden ?
800 mile road trip 5. Any regrets ?
None .faster than most 6. MPG?
25 to 35 depending on throttle position 7. Any performance issues?
nope
Howdy,
The reason I ask, is a riding buddy just did this upgrade.
He got a 131 complete crate motor, $8500 and what ever it cost for dealer to R&R.
IN a few weeks once he gets some miles on it, I'll report back here...
I'M NOT DOING THIS...
I don't have a crated it was a 114 with a 131 stage 4. I have 53,000 trouble miles since upgrade. Runs strong and uses no oil. The only thing I changed was the cam to a Woods 77X.
