I've been noticing that my Harley hammock had lost a good deal of it's cushioning effect. I pulled the seat off this weekend and saw that the flat sling retainer had popped out of it's anchors and slipped into the seat. I was able to grab it with a pair of pliers and force it back into position. I then drilled two holes through the seat pan and the retainer and used some 1/4-20 nuts and bolts to keep it in place.
Kudos to you for fixing it but for the money Harley charges for a seat I think I would have tried to make them warranty it and give me a new one. Course same thing could happen to a new one. Thanks for posting the fix for people who may come across this issue in the future.

It's out of warranty. I did have my original replaced once under warranty for a seam that was separating.
Fixed mine as well. The sling is suppose to add 2 inches of travel/support. I got kind of used to the lower position when it gave out and after I fixed it, I don't like the added(stock) height.
Are you guys talking about the 2 metal tabs next to the backrest mounting slot? I'm wondering about my seat, but I can't see anything else under there that looks serviceable...
This is why I spent the money on having The Pro Pad installed in the stock seat. Better support imho, far less expensive and, zero failure issues to contend with. They are a forum vendor btw.
Just replaced mine under warranty after 5 months. Sling collapsed and rattling in the passenger area. If it happens again out of warranty I will be heading another direction.
