If you like drag racing, the HD Screaming Eagle Vance & Hines race team (2011 NHRA World Champs) will be racing at Raceway Park, Englishtown this weekend.
i used to be a fan of pro stock motorcycle. was talking to an old racer...came away with a different feeling about pro stock motorcycle. the moco is a big time sponsor of n.h.r.a. and pretty well tells them what they will allow to race. vance & hines runs the v-rod--notice no one else has one. they have a deal with h-d and no one else gets any help that wants to run a v-rod. n.h.r.a. lets v&h run overhead cams and lots of other things. any time someone comes up with a new combination that can run with the v-rod, the n.h.r.a. finds a way to keep them from out running the v-rods..er, the moco.
it is not a level playing field. sponsors are hard to find because they don't like losing to the moco and n.h.r.a. every week. occasionally someone like the arana's and their buells will come along---wait a second, i forgot they are sponsored by lucas oil...a huge cash cow for n.h.r.a.. do you think the n.h.r.a. is going to allow something like those ducatti's that are winning on the mile at a.m.a. races on the drag strip? plenty of fast suzukis out there too. they could beat the v-rods if the rules were written to give everyone a fair chance. hell, the v-rod is a porsche design--not something with push rods like the vast majority of harleys have. I worked on the line at Englishtown for 5 years. The bike racers were by far the most friendly of all the racers. They would talk to everybody. John Force was a Dick.
