Myrtle Beach, ride or trailer?
I road 700 miles back from Myrtle Beach in the fall and about 500 miles was in heavy rain. I would much rather ride in good weather but each ride has its good and bad points. Still laugh about things we did and saw in that 500 miles of rain. I say go for it and ride.
I ride with my wife, who is a relatively new, but excellent rider. I couple years back we rode from NJ to Laconia in 40 degree pouring rain. Upon arrival she advised me that I would be buying a trailer upon return. Last year we trailered down to Myrtle, but wanted to avoid 95 because it sucks. We took 78 west to 81, then 81 south coming out below Raleigh. All I was thinking the entire time is what an awesome ride this would be. If possible, I would highly suggest this route. It was absolutely beautiful and biker friendly.
I could never ride on a highway again and not miss it a bit....we trailer/truck the bikes down. We leaveFlemington around 1 AM so we're thru Baltimore and Washington by 5, and Richmond by 7....10:30 we're in Myrtle Beach and enjoying the warm weather with clean bikes that are ready to go. It might be a nice ride if you could take all back roads, but it would take 2+ days to do it. I'd rather spend my time atMyrtle Beach........BUT, everybody's got a different agenda, and if eating dust and water running out of the air conditioning of cars, trucks, and buses and dodging yuppies in SUV's who want to ride 80+ miles an houris what you like....go for it!
Be safe, plan ahead, expect the unexpected.

I ride from NH for the past 4 years, sometimes down 95 other times down 81. It takes 2 days and its the best time. I have better stories about the ride and scenes down to MB than I do when we are at MB. If he is up to it I would ride and have a great time doing it.
