Debating if my 61 year old body can ride in one shot from NJ to MB or if I should trailer.
Would like to hear from those who have done either.
I kind of figure that if I ride the journey may be better than the event, just don't know if I will be worn out when I get there.
I'd be riding a SG.
I just trailered 2 bikes (SERK & Dyna SE) to Key West in a enclosed trailer. Round trip for 4 people in a Yukon Denali, $980.00 in gas. (7 MPG) My advice is ride if you can. I agree with the above, enjoy some bak roads instead of 95 all the way down.
Last year i trailered and this year i am again...The 3 years before that i rode there and back in a straight shot...I took 95 all three times from NYC it wasnt pretty but at least i was on 2 wheels..The only reason im trailering these days is because i had a car accident and have some nerve damage and i have 16 apes and 750 miles is to long for me to ride now without pain..Other wise i would ride.....There are pros and cons to both which im sure u are aware of..If the body can take it and you have the time i would ride but take the scenic route...Just my 2cents
AT 61 if your in reasonable shape RIDE IT< Im 68 and i rode to key west last year, and Deals gap on another month, If you feel 650+miles is two much for you, takeanother half day of travel, ENJOY THE TRIP. ITS THE JOURNEY< NOT THE DESTINATION< GOOD LUCK ENJOY M. B.
If you want an alturnate route try DE 13 down through MD and VA across the bay bridge tunnel. Then picking up 17 and it is a straight shot from there. Did it 2 years ago and doing it again this year. Great area to ride and take your time, it is all about the ride.
I did it once, spent the night in Elizabeth City, NC then rode into MB the next day.
10 years ago I rode to Wisconsin, took 3 days. Had a blast both times.
I rode from Elizabeth, NJ to Elizabeth City, NC and from Elizabeth, NJ to Milwaukee WI.
