I sold my Roadstar Chopper to a guy in Maryland pending on me getting it inspected in MD. I had to change a bunch of stuff to get it through Delaware inspection. I called a motorcycle place in MD I deal with and told him what I have and whats questionable.
V&H Shortshots with baffles
Small Kury LED rear turnsignals
Side mount plate with tailight built into plate holder (plate is mounted sideways, not horizontal)
Heres what he told me:
4 turnsignals, horn, good tires, 2 mirrors, baffles that are not straight through, speedometer works, and thats about it.
I asked about the pipes and he said as long as it has baffles that are not straight through its ok.
I asked about the rear signals and he said the Kury LED's were Ok
I asked about the plate and tailight and he said they were ok.
Im not too sure
Do they ride your bike for inspection?
I can rig the bike back to stock with no problem (which is what I do in DE)
But will they give me a problem if I do? You will be able to tell what Im doing
As long as you don't get a real jerk doing the inspection, you should be fine. I had the bike in my sig picture inspected with no problems. He just rode it around the parking lot, made a show of checking a couple of things, and called it good. Sometimes you can even find a guy who will let stuff through without turn signals, or a horn, or little stuff like that, but since you have all that, you should be fine.
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone near Elkton, and the guy I had in Baltimore isn't around anymore... Good luck.
I got a real Jerk in Maryland and had to remove my Apes and put on sporty handlebars.... pain in the ***... and cost me money to have a mechanic help me unwire and wire the internal handlebars
Avoid Northeast (a town), Maryland for an inspection
My suggestion is to just take it and get it inspected. If it fails, they will list what needs to be changed, and you have like 10 days (may be 30, can't remember) to take it home and change/fix. Then take it back to the same place and they can't charge you for the second inspection. You may be fretting over nothing, and if they do find something, you can decide whether you want to fix it or not.
