I rode to work on Friday, took until yesterday to thaw out but I love that! Rode up to Kelly's Harley yesterday. I don't care how cold it is out as long as the roads are clear and salt free. Wanted to ride this morning but saw snow on the road so that ended that. I never put the bike away because there is usually one or two of those freaky beautiful days here that I will get out and ride even if it's just back and forth to work. I'm on the North Shore. Coldest I've ridden in so far was 17 degrees, heated gloves worked fine but I didn't have my winter boots on, feet did get cold. Keeping the heel shifter on the Ultra was a good move for this, those boots don't flex easily on the upshift when it's in the 20's!

Default Snow

Snow on the ground today, only around an inch. But that means the salt and sand are on the roads now, so I don't expect to be riding much until March.

I just got my heated gloves, and didn't get a chance to try them yet.

It was snowing this morning when I left Boston, but wasnt sticking to the roads. Felt kinda nice on the face. Saw some salt and sand but nothing I couldnt get around. A little more snow in some spots than others, but nothing more than an inch anywhere. Copely Square, Boston, Mass to Bronx, NY ~3.5 hours.

I am trying to figure out the easiest way to clean the bike in the winter if I get salt on it. Last week I rode through lexington and they had salt or something else on the roads. I did a quick detail on the bike when I got home.

No ifs about it - if you ride when there's salt on the roads (which there will be in New England from now until Spring except immediately following a heavy rain), then you'll have the problem of salt on the bike. There is no easy, effective way to remove salt. Large amounts of water are required, not something easy to deal with in the New England winter when temps barely rise above freezing on the best days.

If I owned my house I would have a drain in the garage so I could wash it in there.

Rode yesterday, ****in wind though. Felt like I was in a sandblast booth half the day........BUT.... its still riding, went down kingston / scituate area, roads were a little damp in some areas but still a good winding ride. Saw a bunch of bikes out mostly hogs, and a couple rice mixed. Good day for 2 weeks into dec.
