If you're coming into PA on 6 & then 59, you'll pass Kinzua Dam & Kinzua Bridge, first. Then take 219 down to 120 & go east to Lock Haven. Makes more sense than going all the way back to the dam on day 3 --- spend some time at Hyner & Benezette. Also, 120 ends in Lock Haven so you'll take 220 north to 15 north. Map out a route to Leonard Harrison State Park east rim of canyon), via 15, 6, & 660. Then go to Colton Point (west rim). Then take 6 west to Galeton. 144 south runs into 44 south & goes right back into Lock Haven. Take this route because 414's not too nice right now. We had a tornado about a month ago. There's been some damage down there ---- trees down, half of road washed out in places, etc. I hear it's not pretty, so go down 144 & 44. Stop at the Black Forest Inn for dinner on the way back to Lock Haven. It's a nice ride & you'll have plenty of time to do it that day. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tips on the roads. We're coming from Detroit and taking 80 in. Now that I'm digging into the details I might have to miss the dam. It's a few hours away and that means we see the dam or Hyner.
I just bought the Zumo 220 so I'll see if it lets me program some routes. The 2 most important features for me are the fuel locator and locking in a location so you can always point your way back home.
Definitely do Hyner & Benezette over the dam! (I rode to Benezette yesterday, just for somewhere to go. Took the long way down there, and the shorter way home. Saw 8 elk.) On 80, take a break at Dubois Harley. Different setup. Kind of a cool place. It's right off of 80 & easy to get to 255 up to Benezette & up to 120 ---- unless you're just taking 80 all the way to Lock Haven, the 1st day. Have a great trip.

Geezr,
I have a couple questions about the area so I sent you a PM.

Just got back from that part of my vacation. Now that's God's Country. One of the county's even has that for their slogan. Only stayed 2 1/2 days but seen more that I ever thought we would. Everyone we met was pleasant. Saw a herd of 14 elk the morning we were leaving Benezette. Guess you have to get up early to see them.
From Kylertown we took 53 to 144 up to Renovo. Damn near pee'd my pants. Locals must have known I was a "Flat Lander" because they gave me space. Renovo has to be the prettiest place in the world, if you don't count the town. Gorgeous location, no jobs I'd guess.
There's a tower overlooking the PA Grand Canyon. When you turn off the dirt road to the road that leads to the tower there is a sign that says enter at your own risk. I took that sh*t dirt mountain bike road with my fully loaded bagger and the Mrs on back. All the way up I was saying "Lean Forward". She want to walk back down but I told her it was safe as long as she leaded back going down hill. It wasn't worth risking our a** and the view wasn't as great as Hyner.
Thanks for the tips Geezr. Maybe next time we can meet up.
I know that tower! Too bad you didn't mention it ---- I'd have talked you out of going! (Glad you didn't use the front brake on the way out!) Not a bad view, but wouldn't ride there. Glad you had a good trip. Do it again & see other stuff that you missed this trip!
