Well thanks a lot guys! I have always run Dino oil, but with all the recommendations for synthetic I had decided to make the switch at my next oil change. Now ya all are raving about Dino!
See what happens when you listen to all the synthetic hype?
Most here claiming their oil is the best have no clue how it actually performs. Never tested it for wear metals or spec'd internal engine parts. Or even been inside their motor at all. Not sure how they make any claims except their motors run and don't blow up.
No if you want to know which oil costs the most, you're in luck.

I think MOCO had it right the first time. Synthetic oil has no place in a Harley engine.
If you have loud pipes and no shield maybe you can't tell.
With my TC 103 synthetic oil made everything run like crap. Dino makes the engine, trans and primary smooth and quiet. I switched and ain't goin back....
Im a Mobil1 guy and use it in all my vehicles including my bikes. Never noticed any noisy motors in any of em. This weekend Ill be trying Amsoil in the motor on one of my bikes to see how I like it. I already run the Amsoil in the tranny and primaries of both of em with no complaints. As long as you maintain the proper service intervals it really doesnt matter what oil you use.

Oil is up to the individual's choice. I'm a firm believer in all the bikes I've owned is conventional. Why do I say that one may ask, cost and availability anywhere. I also change oil once midseason as the heat it absorbs as well as the lubrication is vital to longevity. I get about 3500 miles and drop it. This was routine on the bikes I owned that shared a sump with the engine. While, the Harley I ride doesn't share a sump, old habits are hard to break. I have Lucas 75-140 in the trans, Harley primary fluid and will be changing the engine sump over to Castrol instead of Harley conventional. I like switching things up and as I've gotten more used to maintenance on a Harley and reading things here I like experimenting with other products.
