Default Oil problems

1976 shovelhead. Oil flowing from front exhaust pipe, front head bolts, rear pushrod tubes when running. Oil tank full to overflowing and frothy. Oil pressure at idle 20 psi, and 50+ when under throttle (yes 50+ on a shovel). Oil pouring from breather. Oil lines are correct. Any thoughts?

High oil pressure, oil coming out of unusual places means something is plugged up or the scavenge section of the pump is bad. The oil coming out the rear push rod tubes might be the best clue. Oil gets back to the bottom end and back to the scavenge side of the pump through the pushrod tubes, lifters, etc. If it's blocked in the lifter area, it might back up out of the tubes. Also, if the scavenge section of the oil pump isn't working, it'll cause oil to back up. If you pull the cap off and the filter assembly out of the oil tank you should see a good stream of oil returning to the tank. No oil or a weak stream might mean scavenge section of pump is inop, or a blockage in the return from the motor. Make sure the return line (not the vent line) to the tank is open, too. I've seen an old oil line collapse.

I may be way off base here but you may want to check your breather gear inside the cone cover.

Default RE: Oil problems

Well you might want to give the pump a good look see not un common for the pump to get scored inside and the scavange side is notup to par so the oil is left in the crank case. Also check the screen to see what debris may be in there, take a look at the check ball as well as that will allow the crank case to fill up over night and that may be part of the issue, bottom line need more info such as when it does this , hot cold and etc
