Default Oil leak under engine

I have a Softail Deluxe with 1000 miles on it. Today It was a little drop of oil on the floor, coming from the bolt marked on the picture. Left side when sitting on the bike. Could it be the oilplug or the bolt or anything else? I have wiped the bottom clean, but I have no idea where the leak is. Any suggestions?

When your bike is parked on the jiffy, almost any oil leak will appear to be on the left-side of your bike. That is a simple fact of gravity! Oil can also travel away from where it actually comes from. Thoroughly clean off all oil traces you can see, then keep an eye on any fresh signs.

Thank you for your answer. Now it is clean under, just wait and see. The bike have stand on the jiffy in that position for 2 month so I hope the leak is small and easy to fix.

Cool

Watch it like a hawk, to identify any fresh signs of a leak, then hopefully you will get a better idea of where the sneaky stuff is coming from! You are treading a well trodden path.....

Very easy fix, I think...
The bike is new and under warranty, take it to the dealer and have them take care of it...

Have you done the 1000 mile yet ? If so it may be let over oil from changing the filter. I would give it a good soapy bath and take it for a ride and keep an eye on it.

For "very slight" oil leaks, use talc powder. After cleaning the area thoroughly, apply talc to the whole area. This powder will become your "indicator" to find the origin of the leak/seep. Once fixed, simply clean off the talcum powder.
A good solvent to use on cases, is "Simple Green or Orange" (I use orange). With your old toothbrush, you can get into casting nooks & crannies. Really works well, and doesn't stain if wiped soon after.

Default Oil leak under engine

Hi, I think I found the leak. This is how it look under the engine after 21 days. It is the bolt in the middle. Do I have to replace the gasket? or is it possible to tighten the bolt a little bit more to stop the leak? I have also spoke to the local Harley dealer but they only say that the warranty is out (2 year). The bike was in traffic for the first time july 2016. Any one on this forum having the same problem with a bike with only 1000 miles on it?

Try snugging up your case bolts. If that's not it you may need to have the cases split for repair (I hope not ). Make sure it's not coming from somewhere higher up and traveling down. Case leaks suck !

Nothing wrong with the replies but there might be a broader audience for input to your problem (maybe folks with experience dealing with exact same issue) if you put this in a model specfic type section of this forum instead of the oil forum even though it is oil related. Just a thought, outcome may not be any different.
