yup, myth debunked long ago..but still there's differing opinions and beliefs, for example: Fueling Parts goes so far as to say they recommend using conventional oil only in M8 engines due to ring seal issues..they don't elaborate but maybe the new low tension piston rings in M8s have something to do with it? only ever used HD360 conventional oil in all of our Harleys, 12 combined in 15 years and approaching 200,000 total miles, never any kind of problems with it... but wife just got a new 2020 CVO so guess we'll just see how it works out, just fine I suspect...I have been impressed with lack of engine, valve train noise using HD360 forever and oil consumption hasn't been a problem either
Yep, cheaper for the factory, but they are happy to make you think you need to spend the extra money on syn once you own the bike....
So me where HD tries to make you think you have to switch to SYN. It is offered as an option. Just like F+ is prefect for primary. But they offer a 80W140 that is better for colder weather and hotter weather. Yes I said that the 80W140 is better in cold weather far colder than most ever ride in.
As mentioned factory oil will be drained in 1,000 miles why put sny in it. I would will to bet most do not run syn anyway.
I stopped in for a bottle of Bug slide left with a 2017 RGU.
